It seems like it's taken forever, but it's finally here....your senior year! You made it! Now it's time to get your senior portraits taken.

Senior portraits are one of the most exciting parts of your milestone last year of high school. You and your friends are all looking forward to a year of #seniorsunday when you get to share your senior pictures and you get to see your friends' images, not to mention the day the senior yearbook comes out in the spring and everyone's portraits are on display. You want yours to be amazing and to stand out. So here are some tips to make that happen!

  • Find your photographer early

  • Plan a session + location that fits your interests and personality

  • Choose your outfits

  • Schedule beauty appointments

  • Get excited!

  1. Find your photographer early

Securing a senior portrait photographer well in advance is crucial for ensuring you have access to the best talent available. Research senior photographers and see if you like their style by checking out their Instagram profile or their portfolio on their website. Read testimonials to find someone comes recommended and seems like a good fit. Early booking also allows for better scheduling flexibility, especially during peak seasons.

  2. Plan a session that fits your interests and personality

Consider what activities or themes truly represent you. Whether you prefer a casual outdoor shoot, a formal studio setting, or something adventurous like a hike, planning a session that aligns with your interests will help you feel more comfortable and authentic in front of the camera. Discuss ideas with your photographer to collaborate on a vision that reflects your unique personality in your Colorado senior portraits.

  3. Choose your outfits

Your clothing choices can significantly impact the overall feel of your senior photos. Select outfits that not only suit your style but also complement the chosen location and theme of the shoot. Consider colors, patterns, and accessories that enhance your look. It may be helpful to try on different combinations and even take a few test shots to see what works best before the session.

  4. Schedule beauty appointments

To ensure you feel your best on the day of the shoot, consider scheduling hair and makeup appointments. Whether you prefer a professional stylist or want to do it yourself, planning ahead will give you time to experiment with different looks. Don't forget to include any additional grooming appointments, such as manicures or facials, to ensure you feel polished and confident.

  5. Get excited!

Finally, embrace the excitement of your upcoming photo session! This is an opportunity to capture beautiful memories, so allow yourself to feel enthusiastic about the experience. Share your anticipation with friends or family, and consider creating a mood board for inspiration. The more you engage with the process, the more enjoyable and rewarding the experience will be. You will slay it, I promise!
