Senior portraits you both will love
A stress-free, confidence-building experience

The Experience

A senior portrait session is more than just taking a photo for the high school yearbook. It is a confidence-boosting experience for your blossoming young adult, and a chance to get beautiful printed photos of them to enjoy while they are away at college and beyond.
We will plan our session together to make your senior's vision come to life. I will guide them every step of the way with location advice, outfit planning, day-of prepping and guided posing at their photoshoot.
We will select favorite images together and create something memorable to enjoy day after day.

Hello there!

Buckle up, senior year is on the horizon! I'm here to help you through this emotional journey. My goal is for your senior portrait experience to be the fun and exciting part, and not the stressful part (we'll leave that for college applications).
Hi, I'm Shelley, an Arvada senior photographer serving Boulder-Denver based high schools. I'm excited to meet you and your soon-to-be graduating senior! I love showcasing each senior's unique story through images, and I believe in helping you create tangible artwork that builds your family's legacy.

Kind Words
Shelley was great to work with. She traveled to all of my daughter's favorite places and was willing to hike to those inaccessible by car. My daughter had a very specific vision of her senior pictures, and Shelley was able to work with her and provide the exact pictures she wanted. Shelley's final product was amazing and we had so many different options for prints that we were able to get everyone in the family the exact type of print they wanted.

I highly recommend Shelley, she took senior photos for my daughter and they were fantastic. I plan on using her for family photos this year and will definitely use her for my other daughter’s senior photos in two years.

FAQs
Q: When should I get my senior pictures taken?
A: Many juniors start thinking about their senior portraits in the spring of junior year. This allows plenty of time for planning your session and getting the look you want. Even before things start blooming and getting green, there is the option of choosing an urban location, or a location with tall grasses and going at sunset for a nice, warm, sunny look. If you are wanting more color in your Colorado senior photos in terms of green grass, trees, flowers, etc., mid-May through September is great. Many people get their senior pictures in the fall because, either they want fall colors, or they haven't planned ahead. Fall tends to be the busiest time of year for portrait photographers because fall is the most popular time of year for family photos as well as senior photos.
Q: Where should I have my pictures taken?
A: As an Arvada senior portrait photographer, I know of many wonderful locations to for your senior portrait session. There is no shortage of parks, open spaces, downtown urban areas, areas in the foothills and mountains, and places near parks and rivers. At our discovery meeting, we will talk about options and what is appealing to you. Something to note is that some locations require permits and require planning ahead. I also have a home studio. One thing that can make great senior pictures is having textures from buildings in the background. I have a couple of locations that has a variety of buildings in addition to a beautiful natural setting. I love giving people different looks in their senior photo gallery.
Q: What do I wear?
A: In general I recommend planning at least two different outfits for your Colorado senior photo session. I usually suggest a more casual outfit and a dressier outfit. A suit, letter jacket, or special outfit like a flying dress can make a fun third outfit. I will give you a full style guide at our consultation that will help with planning. I have a blog post here that delves into this question more.
Q: What does the process look like from start to finish?

-Portrait session

Q: Who goes to the portrait session?
A: This is up to you and your child and what makes him or her the most comfortable. Some individuals prefer the support of their mom, dad or parents, while others feel supported by another family member or friend. Sometimes I bring an assistant for lighting and equipment.
