A CUSTOM, FULL-ON SENIOR PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE VS A YEARBOOK PHOTO
Most people will get a senior portrait taken because it is something that is needed for the high school yearbook and often because mom and dad want an updated photo for themselves and family. But have you thought about senior pictures as a full-on experience? Or as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
TEENS IN THEIR PRIME
High school graduation is a true milestone–by this time, teens have developed into individuals with their own personalities and talents and are getting ready to show these to the world. This time in a young adult’s life presents a unique opportunity to capture and record this special milestone through images. So let's do it!
ALL-OUT SENIOR PORTRAIT EXPERIENCES
I love to provide full-out experiences for my high school seniors because this might be the one time in their lives that they get to be the star of the show. A senior portrait session is like getting to be a supermodel for an afternoon. It’s an experience that is celebrating an individual, with their unique interests, talents and personality.
The next time that one might have a portrait experience is likely to be a wedding, but this is so different. This is about the union of two people and the joining of families. This is also special, but it is very different from images that are focused on an individual.
PLANNING AND CUSTOMIZING YOUR SENIOR EXPERIENCE
Part of the experience is the planning leading up to the portrait session. Brainstorming ideas for the session is fun, and location and outfit planning definitely builds excitement for the big day.
Since I personalize/customize every session, we might be going to multiple locations, like a downtown area and then an open space. Or maybe one day we begin at the high school track or pool to get sports images and then head out into nature to get outdoor portraits.
CONFIDENCE GAINED THROUGH A SENIOR PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE
One of my favorite parts of a senior portrait experience is that I can see the confidence building as we move through our session, trying different poses, changing outfits, and having fun.
And the confidence continues to grow when we sit down with their family to watch the big gallery reveal at a senior’s portrait slideshow presentation. And when they see their album or wall canvas for the first time and they look like a supermodel in a magazine - wow! This confidence can stay with them and have a positive affect on college and scholarship applications and other areas of their young-adult life. And how special to have keepsake images of them in their prime, to be able to show to family and to look back on in the future.
This milestone is why I love being a senior portrait photographer. Getting to work with young adults at such an exciting time and helping to build their confidence as they get ready to begin the next chapter in their lives is so rewarding. And being a boutique senior photographer allows me to create memorable experiences for people that go beyond snapping a photo for the high school yearbook and to create keepsake photographic art that will be forever cherished.
So are you ready to shine? Ready to be a super model for a day? Let's plan your unforgettable experience!
