SMALL TOWN SETTING + RIVER AT GOLDEN HOUR

Dawson School class of 2025

For Kate's senior portraits, I was excited to head somewhere different. During the planning process, I have my seniors fill out a get-to-know-you questionnaire. One question on it is "what is your favorite place?". Kate had put the town of Lyons, Colorado. I had always loved Lyons as well - it's a small town tucked in the foothills between Boulder and Estes Park. So this was how we came to choose it for our location.

It is a quaint little town Northwest in the Foothills of Boulder, and a perfect location for senior portraits where we could get a little bit of everything.

On the main street of town we began her experience with some action shots of her walking down the street, which always loosens things up and brings out fun expressions.

There was also a great brick wall with vines climbing it, and the vines were starting to turn red, giving a hint of fall.

COLORADO SENIOR PORTRAITS OUTFIT #1

Kate had a fun outfit for this part of her senior photos. She kept it simple with a white shirt and jeans but dressed it up with cowboy boots. We had a great time bringing out her personality.

She also threw on a Dawson sweatshirt to pay homage to her high school. In urban settings I love finding brightly colored chairs for posing, and in Lyons we found a yellow one.

We made a stop at a bridge that had some great fall colors before we went to the river. We ended up capturing her Colorado senior yearbook portrait here.

When we got to the park by the river, the sun was streaming down warmly through the trees, and we captured the cutest image by a fence in her boots. So Colorado!

COLORADO SENIOR PICTURES OUTFIT #2

Next she changed into an adorable blue floral 3/4 length dress. What a perfect senior photos outfit for the river and grassy meadow at our location.

The sun was still setting and was glowing through the tall trees at the park by the river. We captured gorgeous shots with this light and got some great expressions through movement.

Next we ventured down to the river. The light continued to be amazing, and we splashed around in the water (one of my favorite things to do at a photoshoot).

We also found some calmer water and the light reflecting off of the river made for some of my favorite images.

Lastly we used a vast grassy area with flowers and views of the foothills. We had fun with movement once more and also had Kate lie among some flowers. Just beautiful!

I felt that this Colorado senior portrait experience matched Kate's fun, relaxed personality so well and captured her spirit. Her album of images was absolutely stunning!
