Colorado Senior Pictures: Mountain Lake + Forest in Roosevelt National Forest Part 2

If you missed Part 1 of Ciara’s senior session, you’re going to love this continuation. This Colorado mountain senior portrait session near Boulder, CO was full of movement, sunshine, and the dreamiest summer vibes.

Ciara is a senior at Horizon High School, and this session was such a perfect way to celebrate this exciting season of life. Even better, Roosevelt National Forest gave us endless variety, from evergreen tunnels to alpine terrain and a sparkling mountain lake.

A Feminine Outfit for Ciara's Colorado Senior Photos

For her second look, Ciara wore a short pink floral ruffled dress that felt light, fun, and feminine. The soft floral pattern photographed beautifully against the greens of the forest and the reflective water.

Her long, dark hair was gorgeous against the light-colored dress, and the soft curls added to the feminine look. This outfit was ideal for a summer senior session in Colorado, especially in a location as scenic as Roosevelt National Forest.

Playful Evergreen Forest Portraits

After taking a few shots by the water, we headed along a path into a tunnel of tall evergreen trees. This spot created the prettiest natural framing and soft, even light. Here, we focused on movement and personality.

We had so much fun running through the trees, laughing, and capturing playful in-between moments. These images feel carefree and youthful. This section of the session added variety while still keeping the session cohesive.

Alpine Bushes, Yellow Wildflowers, and Endless Views for Colorado Mountain Senior Portraits

After that, we moved into open mountain terrain filled with alpine bushes and yellow wildflowers. This area felt wild and natural in the best way. The bright wildflowers added a pop of color, while the mountains in the background gave the photos that classic Colorado look.

I took the opportunity to get some close-ups of Ciara, and I was captivated by her gorgeous and unique eye color.

I always take a variety of images from close-ups that mom and dad will love (and are great for the yearbook) as well as shots that feature the landscape or that might be insta-worthy for my teens.

Lakeshore Senior Portraits

To finish this part of the session in the floral dress, we made our way back to the lakeshore. After walking along the shore and finding some scenic rocks to pose on, Ciara kicked off her sandals and waded into the lake.

The water, the mountains, and the sunshine gave us a gorgeous summer senior portraits, not to mention a fun time exploring a beautiful Colorado setting.
